Chief Robert W. Seltzer

Let me introduce myself, I am Robert Seltzer, the new Fire Chief of the Smithfield Fire Department. I have been working with the department for the past seven months and recently moved my family to town this past November.

I am very excited about working for the Town of Smithfield and it has been a pleasure leading such a fine organization as the Smithfield Fire Department. I am very impressed with the staff and operation of your fire department. I am proud to work with the fine men and women of this organization.

Since I arrived in town, I have been received with open arms by the members of the fire department, employees of other town departments, and especially all of the citizens of town that I have met. On many, many occasions I have met residents of Smithfield that have congratulated me on my position and have commented on the great job the fire department does when called for an emergency. I will assure you that the department will continue to provide great service as we move forward.

My primary goal for the Smithfield Fire Department is to assure that we are meeting the emergency response needs of the community and that we remain current with our overall strategies to provide excellence in service to the community.

As an administrator, I have an open door policy for anyone that feels the need to discuss any issues regarding public safety or would just like to learn more about what we do. Feel free to contact me at any time that is convenient for you.
